I go to the Sea Food section first (as I always do) and they have Chilean Sea Bass for $18.99/lb.
The first time I tasted Chilean Sea Bass was two weeks ago. LOVE!!! Tastes almost buttery. Just really yummy. But it was $24.99/lb. when I got it, so I only got a quarter pound. It’s a pricey fish.
I’m the only one at the counter. The Sea Food guys asks if he can help me.
“I’m looking at the Chilean Sea Bass…that’s a pretty good price, huh?"
The S.F. guy looks to the left; he looks to the right
“It is a good price,” he says. “And do you know what? Right now it’s 25% off. So it’s $13.99/lb. after the discount.”
S.F. Guy: “Yup. As a matter of fact, all the fish is 25% off. What would you like?”
I got 2 lbs. of Chilean Sea Bass and 2 lbs. of swordfish and 2 lbs. of sushi-grade tuna.
He wraps up my fish and hands it over. I thank him profusely. I almost get on my knees and do a genie bow, I am so totally thankful.
He then goes to wait on a woman with a kid in her shopping cart. And do you know what? All the fish were again, miraculously, full price.
